While Goldstone’s address may put it in Shropshire, remember it is at the confluence of Cheshire, The Potteries and Shropshire, providing an ideal opportunity to explore three very different aspects of Britain.
Travel north onto the Cheshire Plain, and the scenery may not be as dramatic as that which you see in Shropshire, but Goldstone will put you less than 45 minutes away from Chester, with its historic city centre, its military museum, Roman Experience and the Chester Toy Museum.
Cheshire also has some truly stunning historic houses, many of which are slightly off the beaten track,so you can explore them in splendid isolation.
Little Moreton Hall is renowned as one of the finest half-timbered houses in the country but Dorfold Hall just outside Nantwich, is a fine Jacobean manor and well worth a visit. While Peover Hall (pronounced Peever) is a fine brick built Elizabethan manor house. And if you love gardens then Cholmondeley Castle Gardens is yet another hidden gem.
