BLOOMING MARVELLOUS!

August is one of our favourite months in the Goldstone garden: The main task seems to be controlling the explosive growth created by Nick’s hard work earlier in the year!

The roses look sensational - we are rather proud of some of our rarer specimens and the “rose walkway” is a stunning testament to the careful work of a previous generation. Of course, the herbaceous borders are also a riot of colour with a particularly impressive display of perennials along the old garden wall.

In our kitchen garden the raspberries, loganberries and blackcurrants will provide a bumper crop this year, while Nick is also “earthing up” our Pink Fir Apple potatoes (they really are full of flavour)  and is transpalnting the spring-sown cabbage.

Visit our cages and there are quite a few surprises in store:  You will find nasturtiums and other flowers grown for inclusion in salads - and alpine strawberries jostling for attention with wild rocket. Talking of which, if you have only eaten the cultivated variety give your senses a real “hit” by trying a wild rocket leaf - it does really pack a punch!

We think Goldstone’s garden is worth a visit in itself, but if you choose to stay with us, you will find some  stunning gardens just a short drive from Goldstone - click here to find out more about Wollerton Old Hall Gardens and Dorothy Clive Garden to name just two.
